This policy explains what information Aedian Glair (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit aedianglair.net, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have. We've written it in plain language on purpose.

Who we are

Aedian Glair is a small indie game studio. This website is our storefront and news hub; the games themselves are sold and delivered through third-party stores (Steam, itch.io) under their own terms.

The party responsible for your data (the “data controller”) isAedian Glair Studios. You can reach us any time at help@aedianglair.net.

What we collect & why

We only collect data for a specific, stated purpose. Here is everything:

Newsletter subscription

If you sign up for our newsletter, we store your email address (and the status of your subscription plus the random tokens that power your confirm and unsubscribe links). We use it solely to send you our newsletter — a few letters a year about new game reveals, release dates, and behind-the-scenes art.

  • Legal basis: your consent, which you give by confirming your address (double opt-in).
  • Where it's stored: a Cloudflare D1 database.
  • How it's sent: emails are delivered through Amazon SES.
  • Your control: every email has a one-click unsubscribe link (and a List-Unsubscribe header), and you can withdraw consent at any time.

Spam protection on the signup form

Our newsletter form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-friendly alternative to CAPTCHAs. It processes limited technical signals to tell humans from bots. It does not track you across websites and does not build an advertising profile.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in preventing abuse of the form.

Website analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used — things like page views, referring sites, and approximate country. It iscookieless and does not identify you or build a profile, which is why you won't see a cookie-consent banner.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site.

Aggregate button clicks

We may keep anonymous, aggregate counts of how often key buttons (for example, “Wishlist on Steam”) are clicked. These are simple tallies — no per-visitor data.This is currently switched off and collects nothing.

Age confirmation

Some pages ask you to confirm you're old enough to view mature content. Your answer is savedin your own browser (using localStorage) so you aren't asked repeatedly. It is never sent to us.

Technical & security data

Like any website, ours is served through a host (Cloudflare) that automatically processes technical information such as your IP address and request details to deliver pages securely and protect against abuse.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.

Cookies & local storage

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we run no consent banner because our analytics are cookieless. Two small exceptions:

  • Our host, Cloudflare, may set a strictly-necessary security cookie (such as __cf_bm) to tell humans from bots. It is essential to keeping the site available and isn't used for advertising.
  • We use your browser's localStorage — not a cookie — only to remember your age confirmation, as described above.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone. We share it only with the service providers (“processors”) that make the site work, and only for that purpose:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, the newsletter database (D1), spam protection (Turnstile), cookieless analytics, and email routing.
  • Amazon Web Services (SES) — delivering the newsletter emails you asked for.

The site also links out to third-party services — Steam, itch.io, Patreon, Discord, X (Twitter), and Facebook. When you click those links or buttons you leave our site, and your data is then handled under their privacy policies, not ours.

International transfers

Our providers (Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services) are US-based companies with global infrastructure, so your data may be processed on servers outside your own country — including in the United States. Where your data is transferred internationally, those providers rely on recognised safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect it.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter email: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you unsubscribe, we keep the minimum needed to honour your opt-out, or delete the record entirely on request.
  • Analytics: retained in aggregate according to Cloudflare's defaults; it isn't tied to you.
  • Security/technical logs: short-lived, retained only as long as needed for security and abuse-prevention.

Your rights

To exercise any of the rights below, just email us at help@aedianglair.net. For the newsletter specifically, the fastest route is the unsubscribe link in any email. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

If you're in the EU, EEA, or UK (GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct it if it's wrong, or ask us to delete it;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • receive it in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time (this won't affect anything done before you withdrew it);
  • lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

If you're in California (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to:

  • know what personal information we collect and how we use it;
  • access, correct, or delete your personal information;
  • opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information — although we don't sell or share it in the first place.

Children & mature content

Our games are rated 16+ and 18+, and this website is intended for an adult audience. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. All artwork on this website is safe for general browsing; full uncensored content is hosted on official storefronts behind age verification. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. We deliberately collect very little data, and any credentials our systems need (such as email-sending keys) are stored as encrypted secrets, never in our code. No system is perfectly secure, but keeping our data footprint small is our first line of defence.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. For material changes, we'll give notice through the site or the newsletter where appropriate.

Contact

Questions, requests, or concerns about your privacy? Email us at help@aedianglair.net and we'll do our best to help.
